Success and Failure

Another spiritual teacher gave me some food for thought.

On her radio show, Caroline Myss, the author of 'Sacred Contract', describes 'destiny' as 'an area of life that is build upon courage', and 'fate is built when your decisions are made through your fears. Your destiny is when you take the elements of your life and you respond to them with courage.'

Failure is described as being humiliated by an experience and thus labelling the incident as a failure.  Myss emphasizes the need to understand that failure merely lays the groundwork for later events.

Listening to inner guidance and not being afraid to follow your intuition is the message I received from Myss' radio show (Hay house radio - see 'Links').

Eclipses and Chinese New Year

The first day of the Chinese New Year coincides on a New Moon.  The celebration then ends 15 days later; on a Full Moon.  This year, though, a friend pointed out that the first day is not merely a New Moon, but a solar eclipse in Aquarius on 26th January (GMT), ending on a lunar eclipse, which is in Leo on 9th February.

Astrologically, a solar eclipse is a potent New Moon.  The exact alignment of the Sun, Moon and Earth creates a powerfully focused 'beam' of electromagnetic energy.  Old beliefs and other unwanted junk are discarded to make room for the new.  In Aquarius, what is it that needs to be shaken up and rebuilt in your life?

The powerful lunar eclipse in Leo also is an exact alignment of the Sun, Moon and Earth where feelings and emotions are heightened and put under the spotlight.  This may be the time we are more likely to view things in a new light.  Whereas the new moon signifies the start of a project, the full moon is when results can be expected, and that the event culminates to its peak.

Mercury going forward

I was looking forward to seeing the back of the Mercury retrograde period - no more communication mayhem and misunderstanding.  But alas!  The mischievous messenger god would not switch its course without a final gesture - I woke up on the last day of the retrograde to find myself with no water.  It turned out that there was a burst pipe a few towns away, so in the end, hundreds of homes went without water for over 6 hours.  Luckily, I planned to be out of the house for most part of the day, but my heart shuddered when I returned to the village and found a mobile water tank parked next to the bus stop.  I recalled hearing from the recorded phone message from the Water Supplies Department, that water was to be rationed to the unfortunate inhabitants until everything was restored back to normal.

The thought of carry a few gallons of water from the bus stop all the way to my house filled me with dread.  It normally takes me around 5 minutes to reach home, but with buckets full of water, I would double that time. I used the Secret and focused my mind on seeing water coming out of the tap and the feeling of relief to see the return of my water supply.  I could hear water sloshing in pipes of nearby houses as I was nearing my home.

I let myself in and headed straight for the kitchen. I heaved a sigh of relief as the sweet rush of water gushing out of the tap found its way to my ears.
