Full Moon in Capricorn 2015

Full Moon is the midpoint in the lunar cycle, signifying the culmination point of what had begun six months previously during its corresponding new moon.

For example, on 2nd July 2015, we have a full moon in Capricorn at 9 degrees 55 minutes; its corresponding new moon was back in December 22nd 2014 at 0 degrees 6 minutes.  Think back to that time, what happened then?  Did you start something new?

Whatever you have begun then is now at a point in the lunar cycle where hidden information comes to light (full moon is when you see the lunar body in its entirety, fully illuminated; symbolising something which wasn't obvious to you before is now fully visible), either it is harvest time, or a time of fine-tuning.

New Moon in Aries 2013

Cosmic Potential New Moon in Aries 2013
Aries marks the start of an astrological year as the Sun entered this fiery sign back on 20th March.

On April 10th 9:36am GMT, the Solar God and the Lunar Goddess are due to meet up in the sign of Aries at 20 degrees 40 minutes, symbolising a new beginning and giving us a fertile ground to sow our seeds of intentions.

This dynamic new moon is conjunct Venus and Mars (also the ruler of this new moon), giving us plenty courage, energy and passion to try new things, to explore new avenues and to bravely face any challenges that life has in store for us.

We still have Saturn trine the Neptune-Chiron conjunction pair, giving us a practical platform to heal.  Jupiter in Gemini (ruled by Mercury in Pisces) may overload us with a wave of information, where we could get too ambitious and wish to start many projects at once, thinking we are completely ready to deal with everything (Jupiter square Chiron).  Take everything one step at a time and prioritise - what makes your heart sing the most?  Do that first, save the rest for later.

Pluto is due to go retrograde 2 days after this new moon, thus tightening its square to Uranus once more.  External threats continue to be present in the background, just remember that Pluto is there to help us create a core Self that is conducive to fulfilling our destiny and not to destroy us.  Tap into Aries' warrior energy and centre yourself in the eye of the hurricane.

New Moon in Sagittarius 2012

new moon in sagittarius 2012 cosmic potential
On 13th December, 8:42am (GMT), under the New Moon in Sagittarius at 21 degrees 45 minutes, we are given the fertile ground to begin a new adventure.

Last month, under the Scorpio new moon, did you do some serious introspection?  If so, I'm sure you are ready to purge away unwanted, negative patterns that are holding you back from living your life to the full.

There is a gradual feeling of rebirth, especially with the Sun, Mercury and Venus leaving the intense Scorpio and moving into the territory of freedom-loving Sagittarius on 21st November, 11th and 16th December respectively.  However, with Saturn in Scorpio in the backdrop for another 2.5 years, let's not get complacent and think that we have sussed out everything - it is only the beginning.  The Scorpionic lesson will continue for at least another 2 years.

Under this new moon, we are encouraged to think about what we truly want out of life (Mercury in Sagittarius conjunct Venus-NN in Scorpio conjunction).  The ruler of this new moon, Jupiter, is in mutual reception with Mercury and both planets are in opposition to one another.  There is a tendency to be over-confident with one's opinions (Jupiter in Gemini) and a need to watch our mouths, as Mercury in Sagittarius often reflects a likelihood of being blunt.

As with all new moons, it is the start of a new cycle, hence the perfect time to make wishes.  I love Kathy Rose's New Moon in Sagittarius video (http://youtu.be/dkg1XHfmA3Y), where she talks about not being afraid to reach for a higher goal, after all, Sagittarius is ruled by the lucky and expansive Jupiter.  Go with the flow and not be afraid to receive.

New Moon in Libra 2012

Cosmic Potential Libra New Moon 2012

The Sun and Moon are due to meet in the sign of Libra on 15th October (12:02 GMT) at 22 degrees 32 minutes.  Libra is about balance, diplomacy and justice.  Where this new moon falls in your chart is the area of your life which could do with some balance in relating to other people.  Perhaps you are working too hard and need to relax your body and spend more time with your loved ones.  Or it could be that you have been unfocused at work and need to pull yourself together and move away from 'friends' who are leading you astray.

Mars sends a trine to Uranus on the day, adding some impulsive action to the already volatile Uranus-Pluto square.  Globally, expect more angry people grouping together to fight against bigger organisations.  On a personal level, look out for that impulsive streak to act or lash out.

How can we defuse this fury?

Well, this new moon receives two trines, one from Neptune and the other from Jupiter.  The former reminds us that we are all from the same Universal source so display more compassion in our relationships with others.  As the saying goes, 'One is All, All is One'.  The latter trine reminds us that Jupiter in Gemini may have given us an ample amount of information to process and with it currently in retrograde, discern what is useful and what is not.  Discard the unusable from your system.  Avoid taking on too much in the name of love and service, especially with this new moon's ruler, Venus in Virgo, square Jupiter.  Be realistic with what you can handle.

New Moon in Virgo 2012

www.joannewong.co.uk
The New Moon in analytical Virgo on 16th September is at 23 degrees 37 minutes, exact at 2:11am GMT.

This New Moon conjunct its ruler Mercury, symbolising the start of a new plan, a new way of thinking and a new routine.  However, with the other Mercury-ruled planet, Jupiter, in Gemini quincunx action-oriented Mars in Scorpio, there is a danger of taking on too much and thus energy becomes scattered.  Moreover, with the New Moon trine the South Node, laziness is likely to creep in through the back door, since the South Node is the path of least resistance.  Any supposed 'new' inspirations may merely be a regurgitation of re-organised old ideas.  Creativity is likely to be strained too with Neptune square this South Node.

How to harness this New Moon energy in Virgo

Practice Makes Perfect
Virgo rules the 6th house of daily routines and mundane living.  Being a practical and down-to-earth sign,   Virgo reminds us that repeated actions do eventually become a habit.  The more you do something, the better you become, i.e. Practice Makes Perfect.  The process may seem like a drag, but obtaining expert status ultimately is well worth the hard work.

Increase your Efficiency
Virgo has the wonderful energy of helping us to organise our time and focus our energy on getting things done.  This is fantastic for procrastinators like me.  I find it a necessity to write a 'to-do' list on a daily basis. It acts as a framework for me to accomplish compulsory tasks/chores.  So instead of allowing time to fritter away, have in your mind what needs to be completed and have the determination to stick by it.  If it feels as if 24 hours isn't enough for you, work faster or find a different method of working.  Use your time effectively and efficiently.

Healthy Lifestyle
A participant in my Virgo New Moon Wishing workshop mentioned the importance of adhering to a set routine when it comes to eating and sleeping, i.e. at the very least, keep your meal times and bedtime stable.  Virgo is associated with physical health and unless we feed our bodies with wholesome food and allowing them to rest adequately, we won't be able to reap the benefits of good health.  Too many people take their health for granted and do not realise that it is something which requires active maintenance.  And we mustn't forget the importance of exercise too.  Doreen Virtue, angel therapist, once claimed on her radio show that exercise should be a daily habit - just like having a shower!

Find order from chaos
Besides becoming an efficient individual, the Virgoan energy also allows us to untangle 'knots' we encounter in our daily lives.  What appears to be a mess in your life?  It may look ominously impossible but there is a way to straighten it out - perhaps not completely in one go, but there is bound to be a solution for it.  Or maybe it's not as serious as you think?  Sometimes, I find it extremely valuable to run the 'problem' by a friend and get their perspective on it.  They could take you closer to the solution than you think.  (Or tell you it isn't a problem in the first place!)

Be kind to yourself and others
It is easy to fall into the Virgo trap of focusing too much on the finer details and missing the forest for the trees.  Both are equally important - find a healthy balance between organising the smaller steps without losing sight of the overall picture.  Being meticulous is one thing, but being downright pedantic is another.  Relax and permit yourself to say 'Well done, you have tried your best.'  Being overly-critical on yourself and others is not productive for anyone.

New Moon in Leo 2012

The Leo New Moon (25 degrees 08 minutes) on 17th August at 16:54 GMT gives us our monthly fertile ground for setting new intentions.

In Leo, a new start is presented in the following areas:
  •  being true to yourself
  •  to display your individuality with pride
  •  to allow your creative inner self to shine proudly under the limelight
With Mercury out of its retrograde motion (although still under the shadow period until the 21st), we have the energy to go ahead and think extravagantly.  However, avoid getting too complacent and optimistic, especially with Mercury ruling the transiting Jupiter in Gemini square Chiron in Pisces.  We may think we are able to confront our past wounds and traumas head on, but dealing with an emotional issue (Pisces) in a logical way (Gemini) may not be the ultimate answer.  On a more positive note, the New Moon sextile the Saturn-Mars in Libra conjunction brings us an opportunity to express our individuality in our dealings with others.  Within the confines of relationships, we can still set our personal boundaries and allow a part of us to shine through.

Out of sign aspects

Mars-Saturn conjunction in Libra trine Neptune-Chiron conjunction in Pisces (quincunx by sign) - a social interaction bringing healing, though individual differences have to be overcome.

New Moon oppose Neptune-Chiron (quincunx by sign) - a difference in ideals held by both parties.  A new start coloured by idealism and illusions.  A display of drama.

Cardinal T-Square

Venus square and oppose Uranus and Pluto respectively (compared to Mars during the Cancer New Moon) - injecting a nurturing kind of energy into the Uranus-Pluto square, adding an emotional tone into the problems at large.  Tapping into feminine energy.

This new moon falls in my first house, though not making any aspects at all.

Where does the new moon fall in your chart?

New Moon in Cancer 2012

www.joannewong.co.uk
A new cycle begins on 19th July at 04:25 GMT as the Sun and the Moon conjunct in the sign of Cancer (26 degrees 54 minutes).

Where this New Moon falls in your chart is the area of your life where a new cycle begins.  The effect is more potent if it aspects any of your natal planets/points by conjunction, square or opposition.

In Cancer, we are concerned with nurturing our emotional needs, parenting our inner child and to experience a renewed sense of belonging to our family/tribe/culture.

This nurturing new moon square the now direct Saturn in Libra.  Saturn, exalted in Libra, is about redefining our boundaries in our relationships with others.  With Saturn square the New Moon,  it is a time to seek emotional security in our dealings with other people. It can also signify an emotional trauma which needs addressing.

Another configuration worth mentioning is the T-square with Uranus oppose Mars, and Pluto as the focal planet, or put more simply, Mars in Libra squaring Pluto from 'the other side' of the Pluto-Uranus square.  Here, we have Libra yet again, thrown into the background influence of the infamous Pluto-Uranus square.  Can we deal with conflicts (global or personal) harmoniously?  Can we express our needs without being aggressive?  Relating this back to the Cancer New Moon, the conflict may involve the issue of belonging to a culture/family, or fighting over lands.  The key is to be assertive without upsetting the other party, i.e. seeking a win-win outcome.

It is also interesting to add that Mercury is retrograding in Leo.  This is a time to delve within (especially with Pluto also in retrograde) and reacquaint with that part of ourselves that has been suppressed by our family/society/culture.  Leo is associated with the Child archetype, namely the creative child.  Have you been depriving yourself of some fun which can help to nurture that inner child of yours?
