Astrological Impact of Solar Eclipse in Leo 2026: Sever the Cord that is Draining Your Life Force

Solar Eclipses are super new moons, it is when the sun and moon come together in a conjunction, but the sun is obstructed by the moon in varying degrees.  On this occasion, on 12th August 2026 18:37 BST /13th August 01:37 HKT, it is a Total Solar Eclipse in Leo - a complete obstruction; though it is only partially visible from the UK.

Cast your mind back to 1st-2nd February 2026, when there was a Full Moon in Leo.  What took place then?  Six months on, a new cycle starts.  Whatever you have gleamed under the full moon can be chalked up to experience, helping you build a stronger character while you continue on your personal journey.  Just like a lion, the King of the Jungle, you are bold enough to face the truth, to discard, from your life, what is not authentic for you.  This may be the time to finally take full control of a past situation that is draining your life force.  Sever that cord.

Refuse to allow energy to linger in the past, where changes can never be made.  Your power is in the NOW, you can redirect that energy to the present time, where you can still make a difference!

Aspects

This solar eclipse occurs at 20 degrees Leo, so for those of you with planets in fixed signs between 17-23 degrees, you are likely to feel the effect of this eclipse quite intensely.  Mercury and Jupiter are also conjunct in Leo, signifying a time to think big and to stay optimistic.  Uranus supports Mercury in a partile sextile, offering a chance for your ideas to stand out from the crowd.  Neptune trine Mercury brings heightened intuition and imagination to your thoughts.  Be kind, be compassionate.  Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.  With Mercury oppose Pluto, avoid getting too bogged down when other people's thoughts don't resonate at your frequency.   In personal relationships,  careful not to fight for the sake of fighting with Venus square Mars.  Venus oppose Neptune may not be a good time to forge ahead, especially if the road ahead looks dubious.  Deep down, you know pining after those who are morally questionable or holding onto unrealistic relationships is draining your essence.  Take pigeon steps to rectify your situation if you are not ready to sever once and for all.

Astrological Impact of Mars in Cancer: Reclaiming Power from the Past

Mars enters Cancer on 11th August 2026 09:30 BST/16:30 HKT and leaves on 28th September 2026.

Mars falls in Cancer, so on the surface, it is not a good place for Mars to be placed in.  However, it has nocturnal Triplicity rulership being in a water sign (Cancer), and also dignity by terms between 0-7 degrees, which translates to 11th - 22nd August.

The moon, being Mars' ruler, will be involved in a solar and lunar eclipse on 12th and 28th August respectively so watch out for how your temperament and action can be influenced on these significant dates.

When Mars is in Cancer, the focus is on home matters.  It could manifest positively as channeling your energy into home matters, spending time on renovation projects, and connecting with family members.  The negative manifestation is feeling depleted, angry or depressed as you allow the past to drain you.  Or put simply, when you are too busy channelling your energy on your past, unresolved issues, there's not enough power left to cope with the demands of your present time.  If you can transcend over the issue and reclaim your power by finding the lesson within, then you can harness that new found strength to fuel your current life.

Aspects

Mars square Neptune on 17th August, frustration arises from effort wasted due to a lack of clarity.

A clash of power with authority figures on 1st September as Mars square Saturn, but mental agility can save the day with Mars sextile Mercury.

Astrological Impact of Mercury in Leo: Rise Above the Rest

Mercury enters Leo on 9th August 2026 at 17:28 BST/10th August 2026 00:28 HKT until 25th August 2026.  Mercury has dignity by terms between 18 to 24 degrees of Leo, which translates to approximately 19th-22nd August 2026.

Leo is a fixed fire sign.  Stand your ground.  Be genuine and speak your truth.  Just like a lion, who is the king of the jungle, lead and inspire others with your words.  Allow your passion be carried in your speech.  Stand out and rise above the rest.

So far, all of the people I've met, who have Mercury in Leo natally,  tell me that when they speak and share their thoughts and opinions with others, they genuinely think the other party should feel highly honored to be at the receiving end of their advice!  Perhaps in the next 2 weeks, we can learn to harness the Leonine energy and speak with confidence.  For those who can already do that, assess if there's too much of it and/or assist those around you who are not as blessed as you are in that faculty.

Aspects

Mercury oppose Pluto, trine Neptune and sextile Uranus on 12th August on the day of the solar eclipse in Leo; avoid making any important decisions when emotions are heightened.  Loving thoughts and poetic words find an outlet on 13th August when Mercury sextile Venus.  The conjunction between Mercury and Jupiter on 15th August adds confidence and grandeur to your ideas.  An essentially productive day  on 17th August when Mercury trine Saturn in retrograde; focus on yourself and keep your head down at work.

Astrological Impact of Venus in Libra: Turn Conflict into Connection

Venus is in dignity in Libra from 6th August 20:15 BST/7th August 03:15 HKT to 10th September 17:21 BST/ 11th September 00:21 HKT.

Venus is about love, harmony, and resolving any conflicts with strategic flair.  Libra is about being graceful, diplomatic and fair in your social dealings.

Alter your mindset and see conflicts as opportunities to deeper connection, although hardworking is required along the way.

Apply the goddess' touch in your social interactions. Turn control into connection.

Timeline

Venus trine Pluto and oppose Neptune on 10th-11th August; love runs deep, but easy to misplace as the full picture is shrouded from view.  Just before the solar eclipse in Leo on 12th-13th August, Venus trine Uranus, so watch out for some surprising development in your intimate relationships.  The lesser benefic (Venus) meets up with the greater benefic (Jupiter) in a sextile on 17th-18th August, bringing luck and opportunities in areas of your life that are ruled by Libra and Leo.  Isolation and pessimism could creep in on 21st August when Venus oppose Saturn

Astrological Impact of Full Moon in Aquarius 2026: Heal the World As You Heal Yourself

On 29th July 2026 15:36 BST/ 22:36 HKT, we have a Full Moon in Aquarius.

What happened around 17th February 2026 when there was a Solar Eclipse in Aquarius, which coincided with the first day of the Lunar New Year?   What new goals did you set yourself?  Did you begin a new project?   Six months on, when the moon is fully illuminated under the same fixed air sign, it is time to clearly see what wasn't obvious before.  It is time to tweak our plans.  Maybe you were hoping to explore certain career options, but optimism is defeated by reality.

This full moon's ruler, Saturn, has only turned retrograde 3 days before on 26th July 2026.  It's time to review your long term plans.  Incidentally, the Barbault Basket is still present, albeit Jupiter has moved on 2 degrees.  This deviation means that Jupiter is now exactly conjunct the Sun, magnifying this full moon axis grandiosely.  I am still none the wiser as to what this basket REALLY means, but let's review my attempt at unravelling this configuration in a previous post, when the backdrop of this basket was the New Moon in Cancer:

"Jupiter in an opposition can be too much of a good thing.  With Pluto tugging hard at the other end, watch out for the tendency to be sucked into a power play where your blind faith, arrogance and over optimism can stop you from releasing out-dated beliefs, hindering transformation to take place.  Luckily, the sextiles and trines to Neptune and Uranus provide opportunities and natural insight to seize the chance to break out of the current constrain and become something greater, especially if it benefits the masses instead of just yourself.  Neptune reminds us of being compassionate and Uranus to be innovative and not to be afraid to try something new. "

The basket is now embedded within the Full Moon in Aquarius, with the focus shifting from home, roots, belonging to daring to standout and be different.  It's giving us another chance to clear out some emotional debris which could be stopping us from breaking free from the prison of our minds.   Change your perspective, see the selfless picture instead of personal gains.  Heal the world as you heal yourself.

Full Moon in Aquarius Themes:

  • Grasp opportunities to be different while benefiting the masses simultaneously
  • Respect what has already been put in place before you add your own magic touch
  • Expand your vision and see the bigger picture

Astrological Impact of Sun in Leo: Do I have to be a lion?

It's Leo Season!

The Sun enters Leo on 22nd July at 20:13 BST/23rd July at 03:13 HKT, where it is in dignity.  It also has dignity by triplicity (day).

What's the focus this month?

In the fixed, fire sign of Leo, the Sun burns steadily but with great enthusiasm and charm.  The area of your birth chart where Leo resides is where you learn to roar and strut your stuff with confidence.

Back in June to early July, when Venus was in Leo, we learned to get to grips with loving passionately and to stand by our beliefs with steady loyalty.  Jupiter entering Leo on the last day of June further highlights the importance of believing in yourself and to be confident in being yourself.

Do I have to be a lion?

If you have planets in Leo, is it a necessity to reach high levels of confidence, power, enthusiasm and leadership prowess, just like a lion, as represented by the astrological sign of Leo?

I personally think no.  I see it as the ultimate goal to work towards, but some people get there, some simply don't, whether by choice or ability.

Leo the lion belongs to the feline family, as are cheetahs, pumas, jaguars, leopards, lynx, tigers and domestic cats.  Lion is the king of the jungle, with the domestic cat at the other end of the spectrum, and all the other feline relatives in between.  Begin at the level of the domestic cat (or another feline representative) and work your way towards the lion in increments.  After all, Rome was not built in a day.  For those who believe in reincarnation, it could even take more than one lifetime to achieve.

Alternatively, you can be happy with being a cat, or a cheetah and just remain there.  After all, a domestic cat can be the 'lion' of its neighborhood!    You can be content with being a confident cat that can catch mice, or strive towards being a confident lion that can catch zebras and antelopes.  You choose what you want to achieve by putting in the hours and hard work to reach the level of your desire.

The lion is the ultimate archetype to work towards, but you can still congratulate yourself in achieving one of those levels between the lion and the domestic cat.  Remember, realistically, a world doesn't function well with everyone being kings of the jungle.  Sometimes, I find it so sad to see people around me unhappy with their lives because they feel pressured to be a lion of the jungle, when they are more than happy being a puma, or a lynx or a cat.  If you are doing something you enjoy, and perhaps even contributing something back to the community, you are already doing something great!  The weakness of Leo is seeking external approval - learn to be a feline who can be self-sufficient in supplying themselves with praises.  It's internal strength we are seeking, not wielding power for the sake of it.

Astrological Impact of New Moon in Cancer 2026 - The Barbault Basket of Bloom or Doom?

Every month, the Sun and Moon meet up to mark the start of a new lunar cycle.  On 14th July 2026 10:44 BST/17:44 HKT, we have a New Moon in Cancer.  Besides being ruled by a dignified moon (obviously),  this new moon is very special in that it contains the Barbault Basket - an astrological configuration named after the French astrologer André Barbault.  I'm no expert on this rare configuration, which becomes exact 5 days after this new moon,  but it apparently indicates the start of a new Golden Age (not right away,  I guess, these things take time to build up....)

How does this tie-in with the New Moon in Cancer?

Globally, many astrologers predict some major changes on the way.  Incidentally, England will get a new Prime Minister on 20th July 2026, which definitely will herald a new political start.   As we speak, we are in the middle of a global event - FIFA World Cup.  Besides predictions and team news,  social media is acting as a conduit pulling supporters together, where fans find their clans online. It's like one big family!   I have also come across discussions on the race, nationality and birth places of players.  How some players are eligible to represent more than one country, but they made their decisions due to their strong sense of belonging to their native land.  All very Cancerian.

Under this New Moon in Cancer, it is a good time to crawl into your shell if you fancy some me time, which goes nicely with Mercury retrograde also in Cancer as you can introspect or simply vegetate.  A new start regarding the home, family, house, land may crop up.  You could also contemplate a new plan to manage your emotions, if your mood swings and sensitive nature affect how you relate to others.

Bloom or Doom on a Personal Level?

The Barbault Basket involves a Jupiter-Pluto opposition, with Jupiter sextile Uranus at one end and Pluto sextile Neptune at the other, and then Uranus and Neptune connects the final gap with a sextile.  To 'secure' the basket further, we have Jupiter trine Neptune and Pluto trine Uranus (see picture below).

The Barbault Basket

Jupiter in an opposition can be too much of a good thing. If your chart has planets at 4 degrees, you have direct access to this configuration.

The Barbault Basket shows that life is not simply black or white, just like the yin yang symbol:  there's white in black and black in white. We have the freewill and ability to use this to catapult us to higher grounds, or we can stay in the comfort of our existing cocoon and refuse to take any chances.

The decision is yours.

Astrological Impact of Venus in Virgo 2026: Love Under Scrutiny

Venus leaves the flamboyant sign of Leo on 9th July at 18:22 BST/10th July at 01:22 HKT and enters Virgo quietly.  The love goddess steps off the catwalk and walks into the office.  She doesn't feel too comfortable there as Venus falls in Virgo, though she has dignity by triplicity (day) in earth signs, and dignity by term between 7-17 degrees, which translates approximately to 15th - 24th July.   It just means that love takes on a low-key tone.  We tend to feel less sociable.  However, take advantage of this time and focus on accuracy in your work.  Value precision and tidiness.  Go through data with a fine tooth comb.

In matters of love, if you know deep in your heart there's something that needs sorting out, then this is a great time to scrutinize your relationship under the Virgoan magnifier.  Perhaps think it through internally before 23rd/24th July, when Mercury is still in retrograde, which helps with introspection.  On 24th July, Mercury finally goes direct, but for those of you who are extra cautious, you may like to wait until 6th August, when we are completely out of the post-shadow phase before you take action.  By then, with Mercury direct and Venus about to exit Virgo, new solutions may surface.

Astrological Impact of Jupiter in Leo: All the World's a Stage

From 30th June 2026 to 26th July 2027, when transiting Jupiter enters the sector of your chart labelled 'Leo', expect that area of life to be under the spotlight for next 12 months.

Jupiter is the planet of abundance, it magnifies/multiplies/expands whatever it touches.  It is the Greater Benefic, bringing happiness, confidence and prosperity to the area of life governed by Leo.

Be bold and beautiful!  Express yourself!

The downsides of Jupiter are being excessively optimistic, over extravagant and wasteful.

Learn from Leo's opposite sign - Aquarius.  Detach from drama.  Ignore external triggers and seek approval from within.

Jupiter in Leo has dignity by triplicity (night) and also by term from 0-6 degrees, which translates to 30th June to 27th July 2026.

When Jupiter is in Leo, take a step back and view yourself and the rest of the world from a third person perspective, a bit like when you are sitting in the audience, watching yourself on stage.  It is easier to see the theatrical side of life when we distance ourselves from our roles.  After all, 'All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players......'

Are we merely acting out our script as depicted by our birth chart?

Astrological Impact of Full Moon in Capricorn: Living in the Real World

On 30th June 2026 00:57 BST/ 07:57 HKT, we have a Full Moon in Capricorn.

This full moon marks a time of changes, as it happens two days after Mars going into Gemini; a day after Mercury began its retrograde motion, and six hours before Jupiter enters Leo.  This Full Moon is sandwiched between endings and beginnings of significant astrological transits, calling for us to be more resourceful and adaptable.

Think back to what happened around 18th-19th January 2026 when there was a New Moon in Capricorn.   Did you set new goals or begin a new project?   Six months on, when the moon is fully illuminated under the same cardinal earth sign, it is time to clearly see what wasn't obvious before.  It is time to tweak our plans.

With Saturn at the apex of the T-square with the full moon axis, besides being realistic with your goals, learn to take responsibilities for your actions and set healthy boundaries that you can stick to.  Neptune is also nearby, which can blur reality.  Remember,
100% praying with no action equals nothing in the end.

Full Moon in Capricorn Themes:

  • Be realistic with your future goals
  • Prune out unrealistic elements from your life
  • Be sensible with your expectations
  • If you are not prepared to sweat it, then you simply don't get to receive it

Astrological Impact of Mars in Gemini - Brandishing Your Lexicon Sword With Care

Mars enters Gemini on 28th June at 20:29 BST/29th June 03:29 HKT, and will stay there until 11th August.

Mars is peregrine in Gemini, but has dignity by term between 17-24 degrees, which translates to 22nd July to 2nd August.

Mars shows our action, our temperament, our energy level, our bravery.  Gemini is a mentally-agile sign,  when Mars is in this mutable air sign, expect:

  • Your actions and passion to be quick, impulsive and changeable
  • Your energy level can be somewhat scattered, restless, hopping from one idea to another like a grasshopper.  Watch out for half-finished projects as you leap from one task to another when it no longer mentally stimulates you.
  • To fight with your words, as your tongue turns into a weapon, with words tumbling out at lightning speed.  In Gemini, it may mean nothing much to you, but the one at the receiving end of your angry words may feel rather hurt

Be mindful that from 29th/30th June, Mars' ruler, Mercury, will go retrograde.  It's one thing to be brave verbally and mentally, but when its ruler is in retrograde, perhaps taking a quick pause is a good idea, as acting at lighting speed can have its consequences, and the last thing we want is to live with regrets.  This may also be a good time to review your past actions, your past battles that you wished you hadn't fought, or words you wished you hadn't uttered.
