Wa-Na-Nee-Che, a native American Indian I met lecturing at The Mystic Arts Exhibition today, gave me some food for thought.
I was expecting a feathered headdress adorned man promoting the idea of power animals to us, but instead, the first message he shared was simply 'find out what your gift is as quickly as you can.'
I personally prefer to use astrology as a tool to discover our inner blueprint. However, it is ultimately up to each individual to work through the challenges life decides to throw his/her way. I was pleased to hear the same concept being preached by Wa-Na-Nee-Che - 'I will give you tools to work with, however, I'm not your crutch'. Too often, people in distress rely on miracle cures from New Age practitioners. It is important to realise that no-one understands yourself better than you do. These 'guides' can offer you their tools but you must take the proactive approach to help yourself. I like to think that the themes and patterns derived from a birth chart can help empower the individual to gain a better self-understanding, but the healing process will only begin when the person in question is sitting in the driver's seat, taking full responsibility of his/her actions. Feeling sorry for yourself and leaning on another person won't be productive in the long run.
Wa-Na-Nee-Che also pointed out that many 'zombies' are created by modern society, that is, people who are too fearful to break out of the mould and truly discover who they really are spiritually and to use their God-given gift to enhance the world.
